The first route
The purpose is not to delay action indefinitely. It is to avoid spending time and money on a solution that ignores water, wind, shade, access, soil cover or the work you can realistically maintain.

Avoid at the beginning
Many early mistakes come from acting too quickly: digging drains before watching water, planting large areas before maintenance is realistic, buying too much material, copying someone else’s layout or trying to solve everything at once.
Start smaller. Let each action make the next observation clearer.
Record the result
Take photographs, write short notes and revisit the same place. The objective is not to prove the original idea was right. It is to learn what changed, what did not and what the site is showing you now.
